This gorgeous hardback book was published in 1981 by Una Woodruff and is a first edition. The story goes that in 1681, Lady Elizabeth Hurnshaw was journeying to the Americas but never arrived, instead was on the island of Amarantos which is unmarked on any map and is believed to be Atlantis. After 20 years, she and her son were found by a shipwrecked Captain and brought back to Virginia where her husband was but both disappeared 18 mos later. Almost 300 years later, Ms. Wooddruff, an antiquarian artist discovered her vivid notebooks and diaries that she had drawn of the flora and fauna on Amarantos. There are 126 pages of fantastical drawings that will amaze you. The book is large at 12.25 x 9.25".
