This is a doll made in 1895 by Hertwig in Germany. Her name is in raised lettering on the front, Bertha. Her name and the bow and collar of her top was painted gold but much of the gold has worn off. The back says "Patent appld for Germany". Her body is made of muslin and stuffed with sawdust. From the knee down is porcelain, with bows at the top for socks and black painted on shoes. Her dress is faded and probably not original but her undergarments appear to be original. She has a muslin top and skirt under the red dress. She has ceramic arms from right above the elbow down but one arm is missing the hand. Her black hair has some paint worn on the front and back. She has blue eyes. There are no nicks, flea bites or cracks on the head piece. She is 20" tall. Free shipping in US.
