Antique Metal Head and Composition Limb Doll

$127.00

This is a pretty unusual doll. It has a metal head with sleepy glass (amber) eyes and a metal piece to put a bow in. The arms and legs are composition and the body is muslin stuffed with sawdust. These metal doll heads were made from the late 1800s to the 1930s. Most were made in Germany but some were made in the US. This doll has no makers mark. You can see on her that the paint has worn away in spots revealing the metal underneath. These were great because you couldn't break them as with the composition heads that were pretty fragile. Here hands and feet are composition and in good shape except for one hand has two tiny flea bites. Her nails and toes are painted red. one arm is attached with the original wire and as shown in the picture, one arm has a nail in it which cracked the composition around it. She is 18.5" long and her dress is more modern with a zipper. If you collect dolls and don't have a metal head doll, you are missing out! Free shipping in US!

How much is a custom mermaid?

It depends on the size and the work involved. Custom mermaids start at $50.

I saw an item like this on EBay for less. Can you match the price?

No.

Can you hold an item until I get paid?

No. I have done this before, taken the item out of inventory and then the person never bought. This causes me to have to pay to re-list the item and miss out on other potential sales. Please do not ask me to do this.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, I do!
