Zimmerman Sterling Mirror and Brush

$325.00

This set was made by Arthur and John Zimmerman in Birmingham England around 1880-1890. This company was in business from 1879 to 1930. The hairbrush was probably made from wild boar or badger hair, which has deteriorated some with the bristles missing or uneven. It has 4 stamped marks: 1. A & JZ The maker
2. Anchor meaning it was made in Birmingham
3. Y for York, where it was assayed
4. Lion Passant meaning it is 9.25 Silver
The silver on these is very thin compared to others I have had in the past and there is a place on the brush where it looks like it has been cut. The brush piece that fits inside the silver is a little loose. The mirror is in good condition, a little black around the edge is all. Silver is fairly soft so there are dings here and there in the pieces. Please look at the pictures carefully. Each piece has a circle on it to stamp an initial or two. The design is floral with leaves and what I perceive to be an echinacea flower. The price takes into consideration the flaws and wear. In great condition it would be worth about $900.
The brush is 10" long x 3.5". The mirror is 11 x 4.5". Free shipping in the US.

Frequently Asked Questions

When will I receive my refund for a damaged product.

I will happily refund for anything damaged during shipping. However, I must receive pictures of the damage, the box and the wrapping. I will refund you as soon as I receive this in order to file a claim with USPS or Shipsurance.

How much is a custom mermaid?

It depends on the size and the work involved. Custom mermaids start at $50.

I saw an item like this on EBay for less. Can you match the price?

No.

Can you hold an item until I get paid?

No. I have done this before, taken the item out of inventory and then the person never bought. This causes me to have to pay to re-list the item and miss out on other potential sales. Please do not ask me to do this.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, I do!
