Chalkware is made of molded plaster of Paris or sculpted gypsum. They were usually painted with oils. They started making them in the late 1700s and they became popular during the Great Depression often given out at carnivals as prizes and even through the 60s as decorative lamps and wall decor. It's hard to find unblemished because, well, it's plaster of paris. These are 3D wall decor and are just so cute. They are each 4.5" long and about 2" long. There is a really nice patina of wear if you like that, or you could always repaint them.
