This lovely set of fruit bowl, creamer and sugar bowl are from the early 1900's. The are very ornate on the outside with a grape motif. They are Rockford Quadruple Plate meaning that in the electroplating process, they used 8 troy oz. of pure silver instead of the standard use of 2 troy oz. The inside is a gold color. This set of hollow ware has obviously been used and loved, the inside has tarnished areas in which the coating has worn off. The outside where the silverplate is, is tarnished and has some scratches but they look much nicer when polished. The spout of the creamer has some really black areas, it won't come out but does shine up after polishing it. There is a little divot in the sugar bowl which you can see in the pictures. If you note as well the scratches above the divot, I have since polished that area, and while the scratches didn't come completely out, they looked a lot better. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to polish this entire set.
The bowl, which like the other pieces, have 4 legs stands 3.5" tall and is 9.25" in diameter. the creamer is 3" tall and about 3.75" in diameter and the sugar bowl is 4.75" in diameter. These old pieces of hollow ware are getting harder to find because people see plated and think they aren't real silver and throw them out. Let's keep the love alive for these beautiful old sets.
