Antique Ironstone Handpainted Cobalt Blue

This is a very old ironstone bowl with 9 sides(nonagon). The only makers mark is incised on the back and says "Pearl White". I believe it was probably made in England as a blank. It has gilding along the edge and inside the flow blue.

Ironstone is very collectible, first patented by C. Mason in 1830 England. It doesn't have iron in it, it contains the mineral feldsapr but is very heavy so that's why it is called Ironstone. Crackle is an acceptable flaw in ironstone, unlike porcelain. I believe this piece is from the mid 1800 due to the shape of it and the fact it has no makers mark.

It is 10" in diameter so makes a great serving bowl though probably made to be a soup bowl. It has crackling throughout and some gray spats in the center. The edges inside and out are worn. It has no chips or cracks. It stands 2" tall.

How much is a custom mermaid?

It depends on the size and the work involved. Custom mermaids start at $50.

I saw an item like this on EBay for less. Can you match the price?

No.

Can you hold an item until I get paid?

No. I have done this before, taken the item out of inventory and then the person never bought. This causes me to have to pay to re-list the item and miss out on other potential sales. Please do not ask me to do this.

Do you ship internationally?

Yes, I do!
