Really interesting plate. When I bought it, it was a brown color. I brought it home and put it in water and found pieces of shellac were coming off- so I soaked it and took the rest of the shellac off. I soon learned why it had been shellacked what I believe to be many years ago - the finish is dull for china.
The back of this piece is marked only 72. That could be the year it was made. It was definitely made in England due to the gray background of the ironstone. It was probably made in 1872. It has gilding on the edge that is shiny but you can see the transfer was put on after the gilding. It is beautifully crazed, perfect little tiny squares.
It is 10" in diameter. And looking in the light there are a few little spots of shellac still on it. It just needs to be soaked in water a little longer. It's super heavy so the shipping is a little high but it's worth it!

No. I have done this before, taken the item out of inventory and then the person never bought. This causes me to have to pay to re-list the item and miss out on other potential sales. Please do not ask me to do this.
